Four seasons
A plan in four seasons
Four seasons, the same for every family. Most plans are signed within a month of the first meeting.
- 01
Step 1: Plant: a first meeting
An hour at the office nearest you, at your home or by phone. Bring a list of what you own and who matters. Before you go, I tell you what you need and the fee.
- 02
Step 2: Graft: drafts you can read, then signing
Within a couple of weeks you get drafts in plain English with a one-page summary on top. Mark them up and call me. Then we sign with witnesses and a notary, at the office or at your home.
- 03
Step 3: Tend: a look every few years
I write to you when the law changes in a way that touches your plan. Call me after a marriage, a death, a move or a new grandchild.
- 04
Step 4: Pick: when it's needed
Your executor or agent calls me. I've kept a copy of everything, and I walk them through the first month.
Bring these to the planting meeting
Don't worry about getting it all. A rough list is plenty.
A list of what you own
The house, land, accounts, retirement plans, life insurance, vehicles. Rough values are fine.
The people who matter
Children, grandchildren, anyone you'd like to remember, and who you'd trust to be in charge.
Your old will or trust
If you have one, even if it's decades old.
Your questions, written down
It's easy to forget them once we get talking.
Book the planting meeting
Pick the office nearest you, or ask me to come to you.
